Stat Line of the Night — 10/10/2013 — Justin Verlander
Stat Line of the Night — 10/13/2013 — Vernon Davis
The San Francisco 49ers may be thin at the wide receiver position at the moment, but during Sunday’s NFC West match-up against the Arizona Cardinals, whatever production they lacked from their wideouts was easily made up for via the tight end position.
Manning the tight end position for the 49ers was none other than Vernon Davis, who lit the Cardinals secondary up to the tune of eight receptions for 180 yards and two touchdowns. His first score came on a 61-yard bomb from Colin Kaepernnick in the second quarter, and he followed that up with a 35-yard touchdown at the end of the first half to put the Niners up by a score of 22-14. The two teams would exchange touchdowns in the second half, before the 49ers added one last field-goal to seal the 32-20 victory.
With the win, the 49ers improve to 4-2 on the season, while the Cards fall to 3-3. With Michael Crabtree’s return from the I.R. not expected to come until later on in the season, you can bet Vernon Davis will continue to be relied on heavily. He was in week 6 and it earned him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, October 13, 2013.
