NFL Quarterbacks Conversation on Facebook: Week 6 Round-up
Turns Out Rob Ryan and Kenny Powers are the Same Person (Photo)
Good old Rob Ryan is one of the more well-known coordinators in the NFL. It’s not because he’s some kind of defensive genius, of course. From 2004 to 2012 he served as defensive coordinator for the Raiders, Browns, and Cowboys, and only his years with the Cowboys could be described as “almost decent”—because they won eight games each season, despite ranking 23rd in points allowed.
No, Rob Ryan is one of the more well-known coordinators in the NFL because he’s a colorful character. He’s the kind of guy who, after getting fired by the Cowboys for demonstrating no ability whatsoever to coach successful NFL defenses, says things like, “I’ll be out of work for like five minutes.” And sure enough, he’s now the defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints.
In any case, I bring him up because yesterday a photo surfaced on the interwebs of Rob Ryan circa 2001, when he was linebackers coach for the Patriots. And in this photo, the guy bears a striking resemblance to everyone’s favorite (fictional) white trash former professional baseball pitcher/afro-mullet enthusiast, Kenny Powers.
And here’s a side-by-side, so you can compare:
And you thought that college baseball player looked like Kenny Powers.
