Stat Line of the Night — 10/21/2013 — J.S. Giguere
The Pittsburgh Penguins entered last night’s contest against the Colorado Avalanche with the second-most goals scored per game in the entire NHL (3.75), and they also had the league’s leading scorer in Sidney Crosby. You’d think there would be no stopping their offensive attack, but Avs keeper Jean-Sebastien Giguere had other ideas.
Taking on one of the league’s most potent offensive attacks, Giguere seemed unfazed, as he stood on his head and stopped all 34 shots he faced off the sticks of Crosby and company during his team’s 1-0 victory.
With the win, the Avs improve to 8-1 on the season, which places them atop the new-look Central Division. As for Giguere, he is now 3-0 on the season with two shutouts in just three starts, and he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, October 21, 2013.
