Stat Line of the Night — 10/22/2013 — Phil Kessel
With only two goals scored through the first nine games of the season, many of the fans and members of the media in Toronto were beginning to wonder where Phil Kessel’s scoring touch had gone. Luckily for him, and unfortunately for the Anaheim Ducks, the 26-year-old winger out of Wisconsin was able to regain that touch last night.
Taking on a Ducks team that had won seven in a row, Kessel single-handedly put an end to that streak by scoring a hat-trick during the Leafs’ 4-2 victory at the Air Canada Centre.
Kessel needed just four shots to record his fourth career hat-trick, and his first since October 8, 2011. This may be just what the American forward needed to get his offensive game going, as he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, October 22, 2013.
