Stat Line of the Night — 10/29/2013 — Phil Kessel
Stat Line of the Night — 10/30/2013 — Shane Victorino
Not since 1918 have the Boston Red Sox won a World Series championship at home. That long streak of futility ended last night, when the Sox clinched their third World Series title in the last ten years by taking down the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 6. And while this victory may have been a complete effort from the entire Red Sox team, it was Shane Victorino who was leading the way for the offense on this occasion.
Stepping to the plate three times, Victorino came through when needed. His night was highlighted by a three-run double in the third inning with the bases loaded to open the scoring, and he added an RBI single in the fourth to put an exclamation point on the Sox’s series-cinching 6-1 victory.
Victorino would go 2-for-3 at the dish with a walk and four RBIs, and in addition to earning himself and his teammates a World Series ring, he also earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, October 30, 2013.
