Stat Line of the Night — 11/5/2013 — Alex Ovechkin
After missing a couple of games due to a lower-body injury, Alex Ovechkin returned to the Washington Capitals line-up for their game against the New York Islanders, and it appears as though he didn’t miss a beat.
Ovechkin was at his best on the powerplay, scoring both of his goals and adding an assist in 3:32 of ice time with the man-advantage. He was a key factor in the Caps’ ability to go 4-for-6 on the powerplay over the course of the evening, and that was the difference in this contest, as the Caps cruised to the 6-2 victory.
With the win—their third straight—the Caps now sit in second in the Metropolitan Division. As for Ovechkin, he now has 12 goals in just 13 games played this season and he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, November 5, 2013.
