Louisville’s Kevin Ware Returns From Gruesome Leg Injury, Drains a Three on First Shot (Video)

kevin ware returns makes three-pointer on first shot

When Louisville Cardinals basketball player Kevin Ware broke his leg in half live on national television last spring against Duke in the NCAA Tournament, sports fans everywhere felt absolutely sick. It wasn’t just that the injury was hard to watch, though. It was equally hard to watch the reaction of the other players on the floor—especially Ware’s teammates. They were more upset than he was, and you could just feel their horror.

Fortunately, Ware himself never lost hope or felt dejected. He had surgery, made an appearance on Letterman, and started the rehabilitation process.

Now he’s back. And I’m not just talking about him being back and practicing. As of last night, Kevin Ware is back playing in actual games.

The guard dressed for Louisville’s final exhibition game of the season last night, and the official word was he was just going to do warmups but not get in the game. However, six minutes into the second half, Rick Pitino surprised everyone by sending Ware to the scorers table to check into the game.

The Louisville crowd went nuts, and rightfully so.

Then they went nuts again when he hit a three-pointer on his first shot. Take a look:

Welcome back, Kevin Ware.
