Stat Line of the Night — 11/10/2013 — Tavon Austin
When the St. Louis Rams drafted Tavon Austin with the eighth-overall draft pick of the 2013 NFL draft, they were hoping the speedy wide receiver out of West Virginia would provide them with an immediate impact. Unfortunately, that hasn’t quite been the case, as Austin entered week 10 with just 31 receptions for 207 yards, but he had his coming out party against the Indianapolis Colts this past Sunday.
Austin didn’t touch the ball too often against the Colts, but when he did he made it count. It all began with an incredible 98-yard punt return in the second quarter, and he would later follow that up with touchdown receptions of 57 and 81 yards. By the time the final whistle had sounded, Austin had racked up three receptions for 138 yards and two touchdowns to go along with 172 return yards and a punt return touchdown during the Rams’ 38-8 victory.
Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for the 22-year-old rookie, but for now he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, November 10, 2013.
