15 Female Athletes We’re Thankful For In 2013

by: Esteban On  Wednesday, November 27, 2013

female athletes we're thankful for in 2013 (hottest female athletes)

Obviously, there are a lot of things for which we all should be very thankful—things like freedom, family, 21st century medicine, the internet, football, and beer.

However, way, way up at the top of the list, right in between combination Pizza Hut-Taco Bells and the iPhone 5S, there’s this: attractive female athletes. Not only does their talent and hard work provide us with high-quality entertainment and inspiration to make the most of what we’re handed in life; their good looks provide a diversion from all the stories about athletes murdering people, bullying teammates with racial slurs, or just being major douchebags.

Is it bad to recognize the obvious fact that some female athletes are really good-looking? Nah. One of the side effects of exercising for a living is being hot. Why pretend like we don’t care? Besides, it works both ways. Ask any female NFL fan who the hottest player in the league is and I guarantee she won’t have to think too hard before answering because she’s already thought about it.

So this Thanksgiving, let’s all take a moment to give thanks for these women, starting with the ones you see here. We owe them BIG time.

15. Sage Erickson

As you probably have guessed, based on the wetsuit and the beach in the background, Sage Erickson is a pro surfer. She currently is ranked #16 in the world by the association of Surfing Professionals, and considering they rank 154 people, I’d say that makes her pretty good.

She also happens to be really hot. So thank you, Sage, for being good at surfing and really hot.

14. Allyson Felix

How can you not love Allyson Felix? Do you not have a soul? The woman is smart, gorgeous, and a 4x Olympic gold medalist. Oh, and she has a degree in elementary education—so she’s a teacher too.

You gotta be thankful for teachers, right?

13. Monica Byrne-Wickey

Monica Byrne-Wickey is not currently ranked by the ASP, so I guess as far as pro surfers go she isn’t very good. (If I’m wrong, please, surfing experts, chime in.) However, she is ridiculously gorgeous, and she did a pretty insane spread for Stab magazine that you really should check out. So I think we’re all thankful for that.

12. Paula Creamer

Some people might tell you Natalie Gulbis is the most attractive woman on the LPGA Tour, but those people are wrong. Paula Creamer is where it’s at. Not only is she beautiful, but she’s also a damn good golfer with 11 career wins under her belt—including the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open. Plus, they call her the Pink Panther because she likes to wear pink. Isn’t that adorable?

Paula, I am thankful for you. You make golf less boring.

11. Miesha Tate

11 miesha tate - female athletes we're thankful for in 2013

Without Miesha Tate, would the UFC have women’s divisions? Doubtful. So if nothing else we should be thankful for that.

Of course, it also just so happens that Tate is kind of good-looking, which is a bonus.

10. Ronda Rousey

Of course, even more instrumental to the inclusion of women’s division in UFC than Miesha Tate is her chief rival, Ronda Rousey. She’s a former Olympic judo medalist, she’s #1 pound-for-pound female MMA fighter in the world, she doesn’t take sh*t from anybody, and—when she’s not all taped up and kicking ass in the octagon—she’s pretty hot.

Thanks, Ronda.

9. Catherine Clark

Catherine Clark is also not currently ranked. But she’s a pro surfer, and she’s beautiful. So here she is.

(Yes, basically we’re especially thankful for female pro surfers.)

8. Kim Glass

Now that we’re almost two years removed from the 2012 Summer Olympics, we don’t hear about American indoor volleyball player Kim Glass very much. However, that doesn’t mean we’re not still thankful for her. She gives us a reason to be excited for Brazil 2016.

7. Tiffany Suarez

7 tiffany suarez (virginia women's basketball player) - female athletes we are thankful for in 2013

Who now? Tiffany Suarez? Never heard of her?

Yeah, well, that’s understandable. Tiffany is a freshman guard for the University of Virginia Cavaliers basketball team, and she only averages 3.5 minutes per game. So obviously, she doesn’t seem destined to be a WNBA superstar. However, it just so happens that Tiffany is really good-looking. Like, really, ridiculously good-looking. And that has gotten her some attention on the interwebs—attention for which we are thankful.

6. Alex Morgan

Alex Morgan, everybody. She’s an incredible soccer player and she has all-American girl-next-door good-looks. Basically, she’s a hyphenated adjectival phrase waiting to happen.

Thanks for being awesome, Alex. Keep up the good work.

5. Sydney Leroux

Of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t also recognize Alex Morgan’s frequent partner in crime, Sidney Leroux. Sydney didn’t get as much attention as Alex at the World Cup a few years ago, but more recently she’s garnered substantial recognition for her fiery play and exotic good-looks. And rightfully so.

4. Camille Leblanc-Bazinet

4 camille leblanc-bazinet (crossfit athlete)- female athletes we're thankful for in 2013

Did you know there are professional CrossFit athletes? Well, there are. They have what they call the “CrossFit Games,” which is basically just a way for them to extend the reach of the wildly popular branded fitness fad.

Anwyay, Camille Leblanc-Bazinet, here, is one of these athletes. She is from France, is currently ranked 16th in the world, and, damn, is she hot.

“Maybe I should join a CrossFit gym,” is what you’re thinking right now. Right?

3. Sloane Stephens

At 20 year’s old, the USA’s Sloane Stephens, currently ranked #12 in the world, may never be “the next Serena Williams.” But she sure as hell is the best-looking female tennis player in the world right now. I mean, seriously, will you look at her? If she doesn’t make you want to watch women’s tennis, I’m afraid nothing will.

2. Skylar Diggins

2 skylar diggins - female athletes we are thankful for in 2013

Make room on the podium, Candace Parker. Skylar Diggins is the WNBA’s next great superstar.

What’s she got going for her? Oh, not much. Just the fact that she was drafted third overall, is really hot, and has Jay-Z as her agent. That’s all.

Seriously, figure out what channel the WNBA is on and watch it. Skylar Diggins is the real deal.

1. Anastasia Ashley

1 anastasia ashley - female athletes we're thankful for in 2013

I have no idea is Anastasia Ashley is any good at surfing. She’s certainly not ranked by the Association of Surfing Professionals.

What I do know, however, is that Anastasia Ashley is the most famous pro surfer in the world, thanks to the greatest warmup routine in the history of sports. And I would be lying through my teeth if I said I wasn’t grateful that she it out there doing her thing.

Now, let’s go eat some damn turkey.
