Mitch Gillam Cornell Debut

Mitch Gillam, freshman goalie with the Cornell hockey team, made a pretty incredible debut during last night’s game against Niagara. Despite his position on the other end of the ice, he scored an empty-net goal on the opposing team, becoming only the third NCAA Division I goalie to successfully score a goal on his own shot.

It was an incredible play for Gillam, doubly so since the game was his first time starting for Cornell.

You can see video of Cornell goalie Mitch Gillam’s debut goal below. Only downside: He might have a tough time topping this in his second career start.
