If the Florida State Seminoles beat the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday—a task which actually will not be as easy as it used to be, because Duke football is no longer a complete embarrassment—they will finish the season 13-0 and play in the BCS National Championship game. For a major program that had to endure an entire decade of mediocrity—and by mediocrity I mean not one losing season and five conference championships, but zero national championships—this is a huge deal.

So to whom should Seminoles faithful give thanks for this return to glory?

Well, you could give the credit to head coach Jimbo Fisher. Or I guess you could heap the praise on Heisman front-runner Jameis Winston. But, really, if there is one man responsible for what is looking like a championship season, it’s Red Lightning.

Who is Red Lightning, you ask, assuming he must be some unheralded freshman receiver or something? Why, Red Lightning is Frankie, the Florida State ball boy. He’s been a part of almost every big play this season.

Like, literally.  Check it out:

You’d better make sure you’re ready for the big game on Saturday, Red Lightning. Everyone in Tallahassee is counting on you.
