Watch Tiago Splitter Throw Up an Air Ball from Three Feet Away (GIF)
Last night, San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich kept his three best players out of the lineup against the Golden State Warriors in a nationally televised game that could be a preview of a future playoff matchup. Why? Well, he was probably just trying to piss off David Stern, who fined him $250,000 last year for doing the same thing in a nationally televised game against Miami.
So who did the Spurs send out there against Stephen Curry and the gang? Well, there was Boris Diaw, and there was Kawhi Leonard, who had a few shining moments in last year’s playoffs. And, of course, there was the great Tiago Splitter. He actually wound up being the hero after he tipped in a rebound with just 2.1 seconds left on the clock, giving the Spurs a 104-102 win.
Well, okay, maybe “hero” is a bit strong. That was actually the only shot he made from the floor all night, and he had just four points.
Also, in the first quarter of the game, he did THIS:
Yep, that’s an air ball sky hook from three feet away, and it was completely uncontested. Andrew Bogut had completely given up and conceded the two points.
I think it’s safe to say that, even at the age of 37, Tim Duncan has the safest job in the NBA.
