Stat Line of the Night — 12/29/2013 — Peyton Manning
Peyton Manning‘s 266-yard, four touchdown performance in just a single half of action during Sunday’s 34-14 victory over the Raiders was impressive, but this “Stat Line of the Night” has more to do with the Broncos quarterback’s stat line over the course of the entire 2013 season, rather than just a single game.
In addition to raising his NFL single-season touchdown record to 55, Manning was also able to break Drew Brees‘ single-season passing yardage record by a single yard, as his final pass of the game—a five-yard touchdown strike to Demaryius Thomas—gave him 5,477 yards on the season.
Those are just two of the records that were broken by Manning during the 2013 season. On opening night, he tied the NFL record for most touchdown passes in a single game, and he also helped the Broncos break the single-season record for most points scored, with 606.
Now he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, December 29, 2013.
