Ryan Miller Robs Mikhail Grabovski with Save of the Year (Video + GIF)
In case you haven’t been paying too much attention to the NHL season so far, the Buffalo Sabres are by far the worst team in hockey. Over their last 10 games they’ve actually managed to win five games, and they are still last in the NHL in points and wins, with a record of 13-26-5.
The only thing hockey fans in Buffalo have to look forward to besides a great pick in the 2014 draft? The stellar play of netminder Ryan Miller. The dude has been one of the game’s best goalies for years now, but this year, after a bit of a shaky start, he’s been standing on his head, giving the Sabres chances to win games they have no business winning.
Would you like an example? Then just look at this save he made on Washington’s Mikhail Grabovski yesterday to preserve a 1-1 tie en route to a shootout win:
Yeah, let’s just see if that’s not the save of the year when the season is all said and done. And while it won’t ultimately provide any consolation to Sabres fans, American hockey fans are thrilled to see it. Miller will likely be backstopping Team USA at the Olympics next month.
