Stat Line of the Night — 1/8/2014 — Justin Fontaine
Stat Line of the Night — 1/12/2014 — Jonas Hiller
The Anaheim Ducks entered last night’s game having yet to lose at home in regulation this season. And not even a visit from one of the NHL’s best road teams, the Detroit Red Wings, could put a blemish on their record at the Honda Center, thanks to the stellar play of Ducks goaltender Jonas Hiller.
Hiller stopped all 22 shots he faced on the evening from the Red Wings’ shooters, and he needed to, as the Ducks’ offense could only manage to score one goal during what would eventually turn out to be a 1-0 victory for them.
With the win, Anaheim improves to 19-0-2 on home ice and they have now won 17 of their last 18 games (both home and away). As for Hiller, he has now won 14 straight between the pipes, leaving him just three wins behind Gilles Gilbert’s record of 17 straight wina. He may get there soon, but in the meantime he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, January 12, 2014.
