Stat Line of the Night — 1/13/2014 — Carmelo Anthony
After a terrible start to the 2013-14 NBA season, the New York Knicks may have finally found their game. They entered last night’s contest against the Phoenix Suns having won four in a row, and they extended that streak to five thanks to the play of Carmelo Anthony.
Much like he’s done throughout the course of their winning streak, Melo was carrying the load for the Knicks, as he scored 29 points and added 16 rebounds, four assists, one block, and one steal during a 98-96 overtime victory.
With the win, the Knicks jump ahead of the Brooklyn Nets in their race for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. They’ll need more performance like this one from Melo if they want to avoid missing the post-season for the first time since 2010. For now, Anthony earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, January 13, 2014.
