Let’s All Have a Good Laugh at this (Fake) Bad British Football Commentary (Video)
It’s no secret that Americans and (to a slightly lesser extent) Canadians do not see eye to eye with their fellow English speakers over in the United Kingdom when it comes to the sport they call “football.” On the Western side of the Atlantic, football means huge guys in pads and helmets crashing into each other and scoring points in increments of one, three, or six—and sometimes two. On the Eastern side of the Atlantic, meanwhile, football means pitches and boots and no hands. One is about order and rules and incrementalism; the other is about beauty and creativity and freedom…and rarely scoring.
The sports couldn’t be more different, so it’s not likely that we’re ever going to see eye-to-eye here. Americans are always going to like football, and the British are always going to like football. But hey, instead of accepting this difference in opinions for what it is—a simple matter of preference—lets make fun of each other!
First up, here’s a video of what “bad British NFL commentary” would sound like. It’s actually the 2013 BCS National Championship game between Alabama and Notre Dame, but that’s part of the joke.
Take a look:
Come on, England, give us your best shot!
No, I’m totally serious. I’d love to see their version of Americans doing bad Premier League commentary.
