The Lehigh Valley IronPigs’ New Bacon Gear Is Flying Off the Shelves
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs, Triple-A affiliates of the Philadelphia Phillies, have had some of the best-selling gear among all minor league baseball teams for the last five years simply because they are called the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.
However, ever since they announced that the team would sport caps with strips of bacon on them for all Saturday games this year, their merchandise has been flying off the shelves.
The team only made this ridiculously awesome announcement back on February 24. Since then they have sold 3,300 bacon hats and 1,500 bacon scratch-and-sniff t-shirts.
And yes, you read that right. Shirts that smell like bacon when you scratch them. Apparently they are guaranteed to work for at least 10 trips through the washing machine.
“People clearly love bacon and baseball, and we just hit a nerve by putting it together on our official gear,” explained team president and general manager Kurt Landes, who is also a genius. “We had orders from all 50 states in the first 36 hours.”
Obviously, you will now want to purchase your own Lehigh Valley IronPigs bacon hat. So here’s the link.
