Robyn Regehr’s Brother Delivers Bloody Hit in Swedish Hockey Game (Video)
Richie Regehr of MODO in the Swedish Hockey League, and brother of the LA Kings’ Robyn Regehr, had his own brush with NHL stardom back between 2005 and 2007, when he briefly played for the Calgary Flames. Now, he’s making American headlines in another way—by brutally hitting opponent Sebastian Karlsson so hard that he bled.
It happened in the third period of a recent playoff game between MODO and Linkoping, when Regehr attempted to stop Karlsson from reaching a loose puck during a MODO power play. Well, he didn’t just “attempt” this. He succeeded, and then some, hitting Karlsson in the head with his shoulder and knocking him unconscious. Karlsson had to be helped off the ice, but his teammate eventually tweeted that he was safe and sound (you can check out the tweet here).
