Ovechkin Hillen collision

When I say that Alex Ovechkin and Jack Hillen of the Washington Capitals “collided” during an NHL game against the Los Angeles Kings, I don’t mean that metaphorically. They actually slammed into each other on the ice, and it was pretty scary to watch.

Alex Ovechkin is a famously tough customer, and appropriately enough, Jack Hillen was laid out on the ice for quite some time after his formidable teammate accidentally smashed into him during an overtime rush.

Fortunately, both players were able to skate off the ice under their own power, but it was still a pretty rough scene, and it’s doubtful that either Ovechkin or Hillen will forget this any time soon.

Neither will you, if you watch the video of the collision below. And you might be interested to know that the Capitals ended up losing to the LA Kings in overtime after this happened; however, the single point did move them into a four-way tie for the Eastern Conference’s two wild card spots.
