Soccer Player Saves Opponent’s Life During Game (Video)

Soccer player save life

Despite all the diving and fan riots, soccer can still be a sport that promotes good sportsmanship.  We’ve seen examples of this in the past, but perhaps nothing can compare to what we saw from Ukranian Premier League player Jaba Kankava, who went above and beyond the call of duty, saving the life of opponent Oleh Husyev during a recent game between Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and Dynamo Kiev.

It happened after Husyev took a very hard knee from Dnipro’s Denys Boyko, knocking him unconscious and almost causing him to choke on his own tongue. And the only reason it was “almost” is because Dnipro’s Jaba Kankava realized what was happening and rushed to clear his airway, allowing Husyev to eventually wake up again.

The idea of a soccer player choking on his own tongue during a game is a pretty gruesome one, but thanks to Jaba Kankava, it didn’t happen. Now, if only a soccer fan could save a rival fan’s life, this sport’s reputation could be completely rehabilitated.

Here’s video of the whole thing:
