This Day In Sports History (April 3rd) — UCLA Bruins
It was on this day in 1995 that the UCLA Bruins won the NCAA Tournament Championship. They would do so by beating the Arkansas Razorbacks in the finals by a score of 89-78.
The 1995 men’s basketball tournament championship was the last for the Bruins. Their run to the finals would include victories over Florida International, Missouri, Mississippi State, Connecticut and Oklahoma State. As for the Razorbacks, they would reach the finals following victories against the likes of Texas Southern, Syracuse, Memphis, Virginia and North Carolina. UCLA entered the Finals as the higher ranked team, but Arkansas were the defending champions at the time. However, they would fail to successfully defend their title, as the Bruins earned their record 11th NCAA Tournament Title.
