marcin gortat joins celtics huddle

In case you ever wondered, no, there is no rule against an NBA player joining the other team’s huddle during a break in the action.

We know this, now, thanks to Washington Wizards center Marcin Gortat.

Last night, while the Wizards were blowing out the Celtics at the Verizon Center, the Celtics gathered together on the floor in an attempt to regroup and get back in the game. However, Gortat didn’t want them coming up with any clever plans or anything, so he engaged in a little on-court espionage, infiltrating their huddle so effectively that Rajon Rondo put his arm around him without even realizing it.

Take a look:

The real irony here is that Gortat was just taking a page out of Rondo’s playbook. He tried the same thing against the Miami Heat a few years ago—though he wasn’t nearly as successful.

In any case, I don’t know if Gortat learned anything valuable in the huddle, but the Wizards did go on to win by 26, so they obviously did something right.
