Niners Linebacker Aldon Smith Arrested for Making Bomb Threat at LAX (Video)
San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith rustled up some more legal trouble for himself yesterday.
The the 24-year-old was already facing charges of drunk driving stemming from an arrest in 2013 and illegal possession of an assault weapon stemming from an arrest in 2012. Now he faces charges of making a false bomb report after being arrested Sunday at Los Angeles International Airport.
According to a police spokesperson, it all started when Smith was randomly selected for one of those secondary TSA screenings while going through security yesterday at LAX. Apparently he didn’t appreciate getting screened, so he became belligerent and uncooperative with the agents doing the screening. Then he said something about a bomb before proceeding to his gate.
It didn’t take long for the Los Angeles Airport Police to catch up with him there, ask a few questions, and arrest him.
Obviously, since this is 2014, the arrest was recorded and the video handed over to TMZ. The best part is when Smith tells his buddy to record the arrest on his phone, apparently under the belief that he has done absolutely nothing wrong. Though, that actually would explain why he keeps getting arrested—he really has no idea what is and is not legal.
Here’s a hilarious transcript:
“Man, record this shit. Record this shit. No, no, no, no, no, record this shit. No record ALL this shit. Record ALL this shit. Record All this shit. Record all this shit. Get my face. Get my face, and all their face. Aldon Smith. LAPD. Aldon Smith.”
Now watch for yourself:
So there you go. Aldon Smith is now the subject of three separate ongoing criminal investigations. I’m not sure if the NFL has any official rule about that sort of thing, but I suspect they are probably going to take some sort of disciplinary action here.
Sadly, if only Smith had seen Meet the Parents, this whole thing could have been avoided.
