Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin Gives Us Priceless Reaction to Overtime Winner (GIFs)
Leave it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs to make heroes out of the most unlikely players.
Last night, the Montreal Canadiens opened their 2014 postseason campaign with a thrilling 5-4 overtime win over Steven Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning. However, the overtime winner wasn’t scored by Max Pacioretty, Thomas Vanek, P.K. Subban, or any of the other players you might expect. It was scored by Dale Weise, the guy who had six goals in the regular season, and the guy who, until that point, had gotten less ice time than all but one other Montreal player.
Take a look:
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Dale Weise sucks or anything. He’s a professional hockey player, and when he found himself wide open in front of the net and Daniel Briere fed him a pass, he made no mistake and buried the thing. But the dude plays on the fourth line, and nobody expects the fourth line guys to score the big goals—not the players, not the coaches, and not the GM.
Don’t believe it? Just take a look at the reaction of Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin. The guy was flabbergasted, and that’s a pretty stupid word I don’t use lightly.
You gotta love the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
