‘Iverson’: Trailer for Allen Iverson Documentary Unveiled (Video)

Allen Iverson Documentary

While it’s pretty trite to label an athlete or any popular figure as “misunderstood,” that characterization fits Allen Iverson to a tee. The scrappy basketball icon was considered a thug, the ultimate competitor, fiercely loyal, dangerous, clutch, and reckless by many who just didn’t understand him.

In an effort to shed some light on both Iverson’s character and his legacy, the documentary Iverson will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.

The trailer doesn’t give us much to work with as far as the premise or tone go, but it does manage to conjure up the excitement of #3 suiting up in his prime.

God willing, the documentary will just gloss over his later years as he bounced not only from team to team, but country to country to find a professional home in the midst of bankruptcy allegations. While there was a lot of salacious material in the twilight of his career, like so many other greats, it was Iverson’s era of dominance that made his story compelling.

Here’s a look at the trailer:
