NBA Commissioner Adam Silver Set to Announce Suspension, Fine for Donald Sterling (UPDATE: $2.5 Million Fine and Lifetime Ban)
According to TMZ, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is set to announce that Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling will be suspended indefinitely for the racist remarks he made privately to his girlfriend V. Stiviano, which were recently unveiled to the public.
The reports also indicate that Sterling will be fined $5 million as a result of the racist audio recordings that have completely overshadowed what has otherwise been a very entertaining NBA Playoffs. However, it is also believed that Donald Sterling will not be forced to sell the Clippers, which could make things interesting regarding the direction of the team going forward. After all, who is going to want to play for the Clippers as long as that racist jackass is in charge?
Silver is expected to take the stand at a press conference any minute now. It will be interesting to hear what he has to say on this matter. Stay tuned!
UPDATE!!!: During his press conference, Adam Silver announced that Donald Sterling has received a lifetime ban from all NBA matters, the maximum $2.5 million fine allowed by the league, and the NBA Commissioner will also urge the owners to force Sterling into selling his stake in the Clippers organization.
