Earlier today, Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant was honored with the NBA’s MVP award. And in case his statistics didn’t state his case on why he deserved the award, maybe his incredibly humble and moving acceptance speech will help sell you.

Despite having led the league in scoring four times (and only being 25-years-old), this was Durant’s first MVP. He won the award in a landslide, with only LeBron James receiving any other first-place votes.

While many would (somewhat understandably) give a cursory “thank you” to the voters, then get back to the postseason tasks at hand, there’s no denying that this award really meant a lot to Kevin Durant, and he had the acumen and eloquence to demonstrate it in his speech. Durant thanks his coach, his mom, and his teammates in a glorious speech that could make even the most staid LeBron supporters concede that the right man got the award.
