Brandon Marshall Signs Contract Extension on ‘The View,’ Announces $1 Million Donation to Mental Health Care (Video)
Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall has what you might call a “troubled past,” having been arrested at least four times for assault, driving under the influence, and domestic abuse. However, ever since his wife stabbed him in the stomach, he’s been a changed man.
It wasn’t that the stabbing put the fear of God into him, or anything like that. It was more the fact that doctors diagnosed him with borderline personality disorder (BPD) while he was in the hospital. And since making that discovery and getting treatment for his mental health problem, Marshall has calmed down and become one of the most consistent wide receivers in the NFL.
He has also dedicated himself to raising awareness for mental health issues and BPD in particular. And that’s why he happened to be on The View with his wife yesterday when he signed his new three-year, $30 million contract extension with the Bears…and announced he was donating $1 million to benefit mental health care.
Take a look:
Let’s just hope Marshall doesn’t start taking any medical advice from Jenny McCarthy. She probably thinks you can cure borderline personality disorder by not getting a flu shot and eating more salads.
And yes, despite what Marshall said, it’s $30 million, not $40 million, and a whopping $23 million is guaranteed.
