Russell Westbrook Tells Kevin Durant to “Wake Up” During Game 2 Loss to the Spurs (Video)
It’s probably fair to say that the entire Oklahoma City Thunder team was sleeping during their 112-77 loss to the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. The team shot just 39.3% from the field and an abysmal 10% from three-point range. The Thunder also had just 10 free-throw attempts during the game (and they made just five of those), while getting out-rebounded by the Spurs, 53-38.
If you had to, you could make the claim that there was one member of the Thunder who wasn’t exactly “sleeping” throughout Wednesday night’s loss. That would be Russel Westbrook, although, that wasn’t necessarily a good thing on this occasion.
You see, Westbrook did score a team-high 15 points, but he also took a team-high 24 shots, hitting just seven of those attempts; however, that didn’t stop him from yelling at teammate Kevin Durant (who also had 15 points, but on 8 fewer attempts) to “wake up” late in the first half when the Spurs began to run away with it.
Hopefully the entire Thunder team will take Russell Westbrook’s advice heading into Game 3 in OKC on Sunday. If they don’t, you can bet the older Spurs will take advantage and end this series quickly, giving themselves a much needed rest heading into the NBA Finals.
