Dirty Hit on Dale Weise Earns John Moore a Hearing with NHL Department of Player Safety (Video)
In Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Montreal’s Brandon Prust leveled a cheap, blindside hit on New York’s Derek Stepan, breaking his opponent’s jaw and earning a two-game suspension for himself.
Amazingly, Stepan returned to action in Game 5, just a few days after undergoing surgery, and he scored two goals. But unfortunately for the Canadiens’ Dale Weise, neither Prust’s suspension nor Stepan’s speedy return to action was enough to satisfy the Rangers’ John Moore. So last night he got some old fashioned revenge on the Habs by delivering an eerily similar hit to Weise.
Here is Prust’s hit on Stepan:
And here are two different looks at Moore’s hit on Weise:
Not surprisingly, today the NHL Department of Player Safety announced that Moore would be facing a hearing. And given that they gave two games to Prust, you can bet Moore is going to get the same.
With Daniel Carcillo already out 10 games for elbowing a linesman and another possible hearing on the way for Derek Dorsette, the Rangers are running pretty short on goons.
