So far this year in Major League Baseball we’ve seen a walk-off replay review, a walk-off balk, and a walk-off pinch hit double from a pitcher.

Now we’ve got to add walk-off bunt and throwing error to the list.

Last night in Toronto, the Rays and Jays were tied 2-2 with no outs and a runner on first in the bottom of the ninth when the speedy Anthony Gose decided to drop a bunt down the first base line. The only Tampa player who could field the ball was pitcher Juan Carlos Oviedo, and he really didn’t have a play on Gose at first.  However, Oviedo tried to throw him out anyway, the ball flew past the first baseman into foul territory down the right field line, and pinch-runner Kevin Pillar came around to score all the way from first base.

Take a look:

With that, the Blue Jays won their ninth straight game and maintained their three-game lead in the AL East.

Let me repeat that. The Blue Jays won their ninth straight game and maintained their three-game lead in the AL East.

You may want to go hug your kids. The end is probably nigh.
