Luxembourg Daniel Da Mota Alves throw in

Sure, Luxembourg came away with a 1-1 draw in a friendly against Italy earlier today, but it wasn’t pretty.

In fact, it was downright ugly.

How ugly?  Take a look:

That right there is Luxembourg’s No. 9 Daniel Da Mota Alves (not No. 6 Chris Phillipps, as indicated by some sites)  trying, and failing miserably, to deliver a throw-in into the Italian box midway through the second half.

That bit of hilarity obviously didn’t result in the tying goal for Da Mota’s side, but they would eventually get an equalizer from Maxine Chanot in the 85th minute.

Unfortunately for Luxembourg, it’s only a friendly, so no one really cares.  Italy will now get set to make a run at their fifth World Cup title, while Luxembourg will watch this year’s tournament from the comfort of their homes because they’re not very good at soccer—and this throw-in is a good indication of just that.
