The New York Rangers put forth a valiant effort, but in the end their attempt at a comeback from 3-0 down in their Stanley Cup Finals series fell short.

After losing Game 4 in New York, the Los Angeles Kings closed out their best-of-seven series at home in Game 5 thanks to a game-winning goal off the stick of Alec Martinez in double-overtime last night.

Justin Williams would go on to earn the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP for his heroics throughout the post-season, but it was Martinez who was the hero on this night.

Here’s a look at his game-winner in double-overtime to earn the Kings their second Stanley Cup in the last three years:
