Yasiel Puig Bat Flip Veers Hilariously Off-Course, Nearly Hits Catcher and Ump (Video)
Yasiel Puig, who’s made a name for himself not only through his immediate impact in the Majors, but also through the trials and tribulations of his immigration to America, has one more obstacle to overcome: His bat-flipping habit, which nearly cost someone an eye during Saturday’s game between the Dodgers and Diamondbacks.
Now, I’m no swing doctor, but my takeaway here is that he pulls it, hanging on a little too long so that, instead of sending it to his six o’clock, he allows it to keep on traveling. And by the time he releases the bat, it’s around his two o’clock.
That’s an issue, you see, because you know who else is at his two o’clock? Two human beings…well, as much as we consider catchers and umpires to be human beings.
Here’s the video:
It’s pretty clearly unintentional, which makes it that much more embarrassing for the Dodgers phenom. If it was intentional, he would have probably got himself tossed from the game, but at least he would have kept his street cred.
Now? Zero street cred.
