USA’s Clint Dempsey Scores 32 Seconds into World Cup Opener vs. Ghana (Video)
That didn’t take long—32 seconds to be exact.
Some wondered where the USA’s goals would come from at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, with Landon Donovan left off the USMNT roster. It took them less than a minute to get their answer, as Clint Dempsey received a pass from Jermaine Jones, made his way into the Ghana box from the left side, and slid a low shot off the far post and into the goal for the early 1-0 lead.
The USA are looking for revenge after being eliminated by Ghana in their last two World Cup appearances, and they couldn’t have asked for a better start. Now we’ll just have to wait and see how the next 89 minutes go.
Here’s another look at Dempsey’s goal 32 seconds into the USA’s World Cup opener against Ghana:
