Hero Dad

The word “hero” gets thrown around a lot these days, which is why we’re not going to use it to describe this guy. However, we can comfortably call him a competent father as he saves his son (daughter?) from an errant golf ball at the U.S. Open at Pinehurst.

As the ball bounces into the gallery, this super dad or “SuperDad,” if you will, lifts his child up from the bouncing ball, removing him from harm’s way, allowing them both to continue enjoying an afternoon of golf—which I’m sure is just thrilling for a two year-old.

Here’s the grainy video that shows SuperDad doing his thing:

Was it just as likely that the father could have lifted the child INTO the path of the golf ball, with a collision imminent? Probably. It doesn’t look like the dad really knows what’s going on that much. And that would have been hilarious if a father used his toddler as a shield between himself and an errant golf ball.

But he didn’t, so let’s stop giggling and give this guy a very mild golf clap.
