Brandon Barnes and Aaron Barrett Engage in Post-Anthem Standoff Prior to Nationals-Rockies Game (Video)
Last fall, prior to Game 6 of the National League Championship Series between the Cardinals and Dodgers, St. Louis pitcher Joe Kelly and Los Angeles left fielder Scott Van Slyke somehow found themselves in a standoff after the playing of the National Anthem, each trying to be the last guy to leave the field.
Who won? Well, there was a little controversy there. Kelly was the first guy to move his feet, at which point Van Slyke went back into his dugout. However, after taking two steps, Kelly went back to his spot. So he was the last guy on the field and in the dugout.
Is that cheating? Well, when you figure out who makes the rules for post-anthem standoffs, you let me know. I only bring all this up now because yesterday in Denver, prior to the Rockies-Nationals game, we had another standoff.
The culprits this time were Aaron Barrett of the Nationals and Brandon Barnes of the Rockies. And this time there was a clear winner.
Take a look at the video to find out who it was. If you stick with it, it’s pretty funny.
Oh, and if you want to watch the NLCS standoff…
What can I say? Baseball players are weird dudes.
