Keith Olberman Rips NASCAR, Feuds with Fans on Twitter Over Kevin Ward Death (Pics)

The death of 20-year-old Kevin Ward, Jr. on Saturday night was disgustingly tragic, and there was nothing anybody could have said to make this situation any better. However, Tony Stewart and NASCAR certainly made it a little bit worse.

Stewart’s rep said early Sunday that Tony would race in NASCAR’s Cheez-It 355 on Sunday at Watkins Glenn, calling it “business as usual” after a man had just lost his life on a race track. (Thankfully, Stewart would later come to his senses and withdrew.) Then NASCAR went and published a really lame tweet trying to segue from talk about Ward’s death to talk about their race. And that tweet provoked the ire of ESPN blowhard Keith Olbermann.

Olbermann’s problem? It wasn’t that the Cheez-It 355 went on anyway. It was with the way NASCAR publicized it on Twitter.

And NASCAR also regretted their “time to move on” tweet in retrospect, which is why they deleted it. But NASCAR fans still chimed in to engage Olbermann in a little debate.

At first, things stayed pretty respectful:

But it wasn’t long before Olbermann to resorted to ad hominems:

On occasion, Keith Olberman will make a good point. But this is not one of those occasions. Any truth he spoke about the way NASCAR handled the situation was undercut by his d-bag responses to people who dared to disagree with him.

Pot, meet kettle. Kettle, pot.
