Beer spillage is taken very seriously at Milwaukee Brewers games, and that’s hardly a surprise. After all, we’re talking about a team named after the people who make beer that plays in a stadium named after one of the world’s biggest beer brands.

However, it’s not just the fans or the stadium employees who take beer spillage seriously in Milwaukee. This concern for the tragic loss of beer extends up and down the organization, and even into the broadcast booth. And it was demonstrated quite clearly yesterday, during the Brew Crew’s afternoon getaway game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

In the top of the second, a foul ball off the bat of Toronto’s Josh Thole went into the stands, ricocheted high into the air, and headed right for a fan with his hands full of beer. Unfortunately, that fan was unable to snag the souvenir, which instead went to another guy unencumbered by beverages. And what’s worse, in trying to make the catch the guy suffered a catastrophic beer loss of at least 80%.

Fortunately for the fan, Brewers announcers Brian Anderson and Bill “Rock” Schroeder were moved by his plight. So a few innings later they had Rock’s brother, who was in the stands, go bring the guy a cold one.

Take a look:

So basically, when you go to a Brewers game, you get free beer insurance.

Good to know.
