I think we can all agree that the world would be a pretty dark place without football. You’d probably eat way fewer plates of nachos, there would be considerably less gambling in the workplace, and it would be socially unacceptable to be drunk by noon on a Sunday.

However, these aren’t the only ways in which a football-less world would suck, and the folks over at Fox have decided to examine this theoretical issue in a series of commercials focusing on their broadcasters.

The question that guides these commercials? What would Fox’s broadcasters be if there was no football? And the answer for Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, who star in the first such commercial, is that they would be Mexican telenovela stars. Which, no football aside, is actually kind of amazing.

Take a look:

Who knew Joe Buck had this kind of range as an actor? Back in February he played himself in a commercial for the Super Bowl, and that was pretty good. But here he really shows off his acting chops. The guy is like the Daniel Day Lewis of sports broadcasters.
