Aaron Rodgers Totally Left Richard Sherman Hanging Last Night (GIF)
Well that didn’t take very long. We’re one game into the 2014 NFL season, and already there’s a minor controversy involving Richard Sherman, the Seattle Seahawks’ outspoken All-Pro cornerback.
Last night the Seahawks and Packers kicked off the new NFL season with their first game against each other since the infamous “Fail Mary” game back in 2012. And after the Super Bowl champs thoroughly stomped on Aaron Rodgers and company, winning 36-16, Sherman went over to Aaron Rodgers for a post-game “nice game bruh” fist bump.
The only problem? Rodgers wanted nothing to do with Sherman. So he left the guy hanging.
Check it out:
It was a bush league move by Rodgers, really. I had no problem with T.Y. Hilton‘s “Sorry Sherman” autograph, because that’s just friendly trash talk, and you shouldn’t go around dishing it out if you can’t also take it. But even if Rodgers can’t stand Sherman—like much of America—it was unprofessional to reject Sherman’s peace offering.
Fortunately, Rodgers came to his senses soon afterword and made things right with Sherman. And fortunately the NFL’s PR department had Rodgers’s back, publishing proof of his redemption on the official NFL Instagram feed:
Phew! Scandal averted.
