The Nike Custom Airplane Goes Overboard on Luxury (Gallery)
If you need any indication of what the sportswear giant aspires to for both form and function, look no further than the Nike custom airplane. Teaming up with luxury designer Teague, Nike sought to create a remodeled airplane cabin that not only looked bad-ass, but helped ease the stress of travel on injured and resting athletes.
I’m no expert, but I think the Nike custom airplane may have achieved its goal. Looking like something out of Tron, the uber-modern decor offers up functionality that allows players to recuperate as though they were on the ground, in a training room.
It’s not clear who this mock-up would be specifically for, but with owners constantly competing to inflate their own egos, it’s easy to imagine a few of the hundred or so pro sports owners could step up for this Nike custom airplane, regardless of cost.
Take a look:
“How much is it?,” you ask?
Not sure. It’s probably very expensive, but any more expensive than having a Greg Oden-type situation on your hands? Maybe not, but it’s unlikely that a plane could have saved his frail body anyway. At the very least, you can use the plane to impress your friends. That’s more fun than microfracture surgery anyway.
