South Park Season 18 Promo Trolling Dan Snyder and Redskins Airs on Fox During Redskins Game (Video)
Here’s a fact that might make you feel old: on September 24, the 18th season of South Park will premier on Comedy Central.
And here’s a fact that will definitely piss off a few Washington football fans: a South Park Season 18 promo mocking owner Dan Snyder and his team’s controversial nickname aired on Fox yesterday…during the Washington-Philadelphia game.
In said promo, we see Eric Cartman has taken advantage of the U.S. Patent Office’s revocation of the Washington Redskins trademark by naming his company The Washington Redskins. This in turn pisses off Dan Snyder, who shows up at Cartman’s desk (with Robert Griffin III) and makes a bunch of ironic arguments about how what Cartman’s doing is offensive.
Of course, Cartman’s defense for his use of the Washington Redskins name and logo is also the defense of South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. If the U.S. Patent Office had not voided the Redskins trademark, Parker and Stone could not get away with this attack. As it is, just like Cartman, they can do whatever they want. And given the show’s history, I wouldn’t be surprised if Cartman’s Washington Redskins turn out to be neo-Nazis or something.
But enough explanation. Take a look at the South Park season 18 promo that trolled the hell out of the Redskins yesterday:
