Bruins Forward Milan Lucic Taunts Canadiens Fans from Penalty Box (Video)
Lucic taunts Canadiens fans? Yeah, there’s a shocker.
The Bruins and Canadiens constitute possibly the fiercest rivalry in the NHL, so things are always a little bit chippy. But last night’s meeting was especially tense because it was the first time the two historic franchises had met since their epic seven-game Eastern Conference semifinal series last spring—an epic series which the Canadiens won. And given that Milan Lucic is Boston’s bigget sh*t-disturber, it should come as no surprise that he got into it with some fans.
Lucic took a boarding penalty with 1:20 left in the third period with the Bruins trailing 5-4. Then, already displeased with the actual call—which, to be fair, was questionable—Lucic then turned his attention to Canadiens fans behind the sin bin, making a somewhat obscene gesture to them before raising an imaginary Stanley Cup as if to ask, “Hey, when was the last time you guys won the Cup, anyway?”
Take a look: In case you were wondering, Montreal is 24-9 against the Bruins all-time in the playoffs, and their 23 Stanley Cups is 10 more than any other franchise. (Yes, ten more.) But the last time they won was 1993, while the Bruins hoisted the grail in 2011. So that’s the basis of Lucic’s taunt.
Gotta love rivalries, right?
