Derrick Rose Looked Like MVP Derrick Rose Last Night Against LeBron and the Cavaliers (Videos)
It’s been a long time since anybody referred to Derrick Rose as MVP Derrick Rose. He won the award in 2010-11, tore his ACL at the end of an injury-plaged 2011-12, missed all of 2012-13, and then tore his meniscus early in 2013-14, missing the remainder of that season, too. In that span, LeBron James made four straight NBA Finals appearances with the Miami Heat, winning two championships. He also won two more NBA MVP awards of his own.
So yeah, it’s been a long time. But if last night is any indication, at long last, MVP Derrick Rose is officially back. The guy scored a game-high 30 points and, more importantly, looked damn good doing it.
Here’s Rose making Matthew Dellavedova and Dion Waiters look silly (though, yes, it probably is travelling):
Here’s Rose beating Kyrie Irving up high before slicing right through LeBron and Anderson Varejao like a hot knife through butter:
And here’s Rose putting Waiters and Dellavedova on skates (with the help of moving wall Joakim Noah) and dropping a long-rage three:
I think it’s safe to say that, with the return of MVP Derrick Rose, the Chicago Bulls are once again an elite team. It’s going to be all kinds of fun watching them duke it out with LeBron and the Cleveland Cavaliers all year.
