Morehead State Quarterback Gets Flattened by Helmet-Popping Hit (Video)
On Sunday, LeBron James told ESPN’s Chris Broussard that his sons are not allowed to play football.
Perhaps he had just seen what happened to Morehead State quarterback Austin Gahafer on Saturday.
The Eagles were in sunny southern California over the weekend to take on the San Diego Toreros in NCAA Football Championship Series action. In the fourth quarter, on a 4th and goal from the San Diego 3-yard line while tailing 49-21, the Eagles ran a triple-option and Gahafer pitched the ball wide to running back Rob Harden. However, that did not spare Gahafer from getting obliterated. The moment the ball left his hands, Torero’s defensive lineman Jonathan Petersen delivered a bone-crushing, helmet-popping hit.
Take a look:
Something tells me poor Austin Gahafer is going to have second thoughts the next time coach calls for the option.
In any case, as you can see, San Diego got the stop there, preventing Morehead State from closing the gap. They went on to win the game 49-28 and improve to 8-1 on the season.
