Dallas Defenseman John Klingberg Scores Amazing Knucklepuck Goal from Center Ice (Video)

klinberg knucklepuck goal

Dallas Stars defenseman John Klingberg was obviously a big fan of The Mighty Ducks franchise growing up. Last night he scored a wicked knucklepuck goal from center ice, just like Russ Tyler (i.e. a young Keenan Thompason) did in the 1994 classic D2: The Mighty Ducks.

The Stars were at home hosting the Edmonton Oilers, losers of six straight. Midway through the first period, with the game still scoreless, Dallas won a innocuous faceoff in the neutral zone, and the puck went right to Klinberg. However, instead of just dumping it in and letting the forwards chase after it, he decided to fire the puck on net.

As it turned out, though, it wouldn’t be just any shot. The puck was on it’s side. So instead of a nice, predictable trajectory, the thing fluttered and buckled and went right under the glove of Oilers goalie Viktor Fasth. Just like an R.A. Dickey knuckleball.

Take a look:

Think Fasth still should have made the save on a shot from 75 feet out? You get in there and try to stop a knucklepuck. Let us all know how that goes.
