The video you are about to watch just might be the greatest local news report on a high school football championship game in the history of local news and high school football. You might even say it’s The Godfather of local news reports about high school football.

It comes to us courtesy of WJBK, the Fox affiliate in Detroit. They sent reporter Charlie Langton to cover the Michigan Division II high school football championship between Muskegon Mona Shores and Warren De La Salle at Ford Field over the weekend. And pretty much every single thing that transpired was solid gold—from Langton’s over-the-top exhuberance, to the tailgatin’ De La Salle grandma, to the “we’re ready” kid, to the “got my swagger back” kid.

In fact, “got my wagger back” kid (actual name Jah’wuan Nelson) is probably the most famous high school football player in the country right now, thanks to Langton.

If this doesn’t win old Charlie Langton a regional Emmy, nothing will.
