NBA 2K15 Includes Baylor’s Isaiah Austin as a Playable Character (Video)
The Isaiah Austin story is both sad and heartwarming. For those who haven’t already heard it, the Baylor standout had to cut his basketball career woefully short due to a medical condition that wasn’t discovered until a routine physical at the NBA draft combine in May. Isaiah Austin suffers from Marfan Syndrome, which affects the body’s connective tissue. He wouldn’t be cleared to play competitive basketball ever again.
However, following this sad news, a HUGE outpouring of support was shown towards Austin. Adam Silver promised the former Baylor player that he would have a job waiting for him in the NBA once he’s finished getting his degree at Baylor. And now, NBA 2K15, the official video game of the league, has included Austin as a player in the newest edition of the game.
Pretty cool. Not as cool as actually playing pro basketball, but all this love from the league and its sponsors/partners has to make Austin feel pretty good.
Though Austin is shown below as a Cav, he’s in the league’s free agency pool, so you can likely pick him up with whatever team you like.
